Nadia Comaneci (Gheorghe Gheorghiu Dej Now Onesti) Romanian Gymnast born November 12, 1961. She was the first Romanian to be awarded a score of 10 for an Olympic event. Bela Karolyi later Romanian Gymnastics Coach discovered Comaneci as she was only six years old. The year 1969 was the first time she took part in the Romanian Junior Games where she placed 13th. She won in 1970. Her first ever international contest in 1972, she came out on top having won three golds. She won four gold and one silver in her debut competition as a senior, held in 1975. This was the first time she participated as an older senior. She was the winner of the American Cup in New York City in 1976 becoming the first woman in history to complete a reverse double salto, which is an unmounting from uneven parallel bars. Carol Marie Wayne, born in Chicago Illinois US on 6 September 1942. Carol started her professional career as an entertainer in her teens. As a young girl she started her career as the figure skater alongside Nina Wayne in the travelling show of entertainment Ice Capades. They featured staged ice skating shows.
