April Lockhart

April Lockhart is a born July 4th in 1995. In the seventh grade, she started taking piano and guitar lessons. This ignited her passion for songwriting. At the age of 12 when she wrote her first single Different. At the age of 14, April spent a lot of her time making song lyrics and working on her music. Soon after she began taking excursions to write with her father in NY as well as LA. April also added additional themes to the track "Take My Hand" for a few of her the friends she had who struggled with concerns like peer pressure problems, as well as teenage suicide. Lockhart is a partner at the well-known cosmetics brand Ilia as well as a lifestyle influencer with a huge following of her own. Lockhart was born with no left hand. It's part of her story, but that's not the entire story. Lockhart does not deny that she has a disability in her posts on Instagram, however she isn't making it the focal point of her story. The point? There is more to us than the physical person we are. Our identities are complicated and include a myriad of dimensions. Lockhart is interviewed through video from Nashville. "I do not intend to let it define my personal life. I do not want to be merely identified as a specialist in disability. It doesn't impact my day-to-day routine. I continue to do the normal things and have adapted to the limitations of my disability. Since it's a part of who I am It's a topic worth talking about. Lockhart encourages us to keep moving forward with self-acceptance. Lockhart admits to having been through a few phases in her body, and felt uneasy in some instances to wear clothing that displayed the arms of her. She wears whatever she wants and posts photos of herself dressed in outfits she picks out on social media. Self-love she said is a process. "I do not think that you'll ever get in that place," she said. But, this isn't typical for people with doubts. I believe that it's really important to surround yourself with people who can see and know your true heart.
